Professional Experience:

Bailey Howard is an associate attorney in the Firm’s Tallahassee office. His practice focuses on appellate litigation in Florida and federal courts, as well as providing strategic insight at all stages of litigation to place the case in the most favorable posture for appeal. Bailey also works with trial counsel to develop and implement litigation strategies that minimize the likelihood that any appeal will be taken. He has presented oral arguments in the Supreme Court of Florida, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and Florida’s district courts of appeal.

Born and raised in Destin, Bailey worked as a wine expert and sommelier for several years before deciding to study law. During law school, he served as a judicial extern to Judge M. Casey Rodgers and Magistrate Judge Charles A. Stampelos, both of the Northern District of Florida. He was the Executive Article Selection Editor for Volume 44 of the Florida State University Law Review and a staff editor of the Journal of Land Use and Environmental Law. Bailey competed on the FSU Law Moot Court Team, being selected as one of the “Final Four” advocates to present a moot oral argument to the Supreme Court of Florida in 2015. He was a finalist in the J. Braxton Craven Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition in 2016 and earned the Best Oralist award at the USD National Criminal Procedure Moot Court Competition that same year. In his final year, his teammates voted him the honor of delivering a keynote address at the team banquet on behalf of the graduating class.

After graduating from FSU Law, Bailey served as a judicial clerk for Justice Jorge Labarga of the Supreme Court of Florida from 2017 to 2019 and to Judge Mark Walker of the Northern District of Florida from 2019 to 2020. Since entering private practice, he has remained active with the FSU Law Moot Court Team as a volunteer coach and panelist. He enjoys rock climbing, cycling, and reading historical or biographical works. He is fluent in German, conversant in Spanish, and is learning Latin.
