Attorney Douglas A. Bates Inducted as American College of Bankruptcy Fellow

We are proud to announce that Douglas A. Bates, shareholder at Clark Partington, was recently inducted as a Fellow in the 35th Class of the American College of Bankruptcy (the “College”). The induction ceremony took place at the College’s Annual Meeting, held at the renowned Smithsonian Institute National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC.

Douglas is only the second attorney in the Northern District of Florida to receive this honor, joining the distinguished company of Chief United States Bankruptcy Judge for the Northern District of Florida, Karen K. Specie.

The American College of Bankruptcy is an honorary public service association of bankruptcy and insolvency professionals and plays an important role in sustaining professional excellence in the industry. Nominees are invited to join based on a proven record of achievement reflecting the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, character, integrity, professional expertise and leadership.

About Doug
Douglas A. Bates is a shareholder and AV rated attorney in the Firm’s Pensacola office. His practice is focused on commercial and real estate litigation, with a large focus on bankruptcy and creditors’ rights cases. He has handled insolvency matters, distressed business situations, and special asset cases across the state of Florida and the United States.

In addition to being selected as an ACB Fellow, for the past 10 years, Doug has been selected for inclusion in the Florida Super Lawyers list, and recognized in the Top 100: Florida Super Lawyers list for two consecutive years. Doug has consistently received recognition and ranking by Chambers USA for his legal knowledge, experience, and client service in the area of “Bankruptcy Restructuring for North and Central Florida.” Doug is also a member of the Clark Partington bankruptcy team that consistently receives recognition by Best Law Firms as Metropolitan Tier 1 Firm in Bankruptcy and Creditor-Debtor Rights/Insolvency and Reorganization.

Doug is Immediate Past Chair of the Business Law Section of The Florida Bar. In 2019, he was recognized as the Section’s Member of the Year, and has proudly served for over 15 years on the Section’s Executive Council. Doug is the Chairman of Pensacola Sports Board of Directors, and the past President of Pensacola State College Foundation Board of Governors. He also stays active in numerous other local, statewide, and national organizations.
