PENSACOLA (July 26, 2022):

It is our great honor to announce shareholder Bruce Partington’s recent installation as 118th President of the Rotary Club of Pensacola (the 2nd oldest Rotary Club in the State of Florida, est. in 1915).

At the Club’s change of command ceremony last week, Bruce gave a tremendous installation speech, in which he acknowledged and praised the service of his presidential predecessors, and thanked fellow Rotarians, such as Dr. Clif Payne, Bobby Kahn and Bob Hart, for their mentorship, leadership and friendship throughout the years. Additionally, Bruce warmly thanked his father, Don (also present at the ceremony), for instilling in him the importance of community service at a young age.

Bruce continued to outline two primary initiatives for his presidential term, to include a national Rotary program called HANWASH, that would provide clean water and effective sanitation to the people of Haiti; and an early learning initiative that would connect Rotarians with several already established local early learning programs/initiatives, such as Studer Community Institute/Dr. Dana Suskind’s “30 Million Words”; the Rotary established group, ECARE; the Boys and Girls’ Club and others, to help provide valuable educational opportunities to all children, regardless of race or socio-economic status.

Bruce’s speech concluded with a compelling call to action, and a Bob Hart-ism, stating, “The history of our club is in the future – if we can help solve these problems, the history of our community will be in the future too,” highlighting the fact that both of these initiatives are long-term goals that may take decades to accomplish, but the seeds that are planted with care and good faith now, will yield a better Pensacola for many decades to come.
